Supporting underserved patients with their medicines

This study aims to investigate whether an e-learning resource produced with patients and pharmacy teams can change the attitudes and behaviour of pharmacy staff and improve the provision of medicine use reviews (MUR) to underserved communities.

Led by a multidisciplinary team at The University of Nottingham – including members of NCARE – the project includes De Montfort University Leicester, the Queen’s Pharmacy Centre and the Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Medicine.

Researchers will evaluate the impact of the resource on the staff and explore barriers and facilitators to its successful implementation.

Secondary objectives are to explore patients’ existing experiences of their medicines and support received from professionals, along with how an MUR affects patient’s knowledge and use of medicines and perceptions of the pharmacist.
