ACPIN AHP Stroke Abstract Prize

Dr Niki Chouliara was awarded the Association for Chartered Physiotherapists in Neurology, AHP Prize for her poster and presentation: How do stroke Early Supported Discharge services in England achieve responsive and intensive service provision? Findings from a realist evaluation study (WISE). Chouliara N, Cameron T, Byrne A, Langhorne P, Robinson T, Walker M F, Fisher R.

Niki is a postdoctoral fellow at the Division of Rehabilitation, Ageing and Wellbeing. She is a research psychologist with expertise in the use of mixed method approaches to the study of complex rehabilitation interventions for people with stroke. Niki has a particular interest in how multidisciplinary teams work effectively together and her current research focuses on the use of realist evaluation methodology to understand how stroke Early Supported Discharge services achieve evidence-based targets in clinical practice. 

SSNAP Appointment

Dr Rebecca Fisher was appointed Associate Director with the Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme. Rebecca is a Stroke Association Senior Lecturer, Deputy Head and Research Lead, Division of Rehabilitation, Ageing and Wellbeing and NIHR Applied Research Collaboration East Midlands, Building Community Resilience and Enabling Independence Theme Deputy.

Lifetime Achievement Award

Professor Marion Walker MBE, Emeritus Professor in Stroke Rehabilitation, was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award for services to stroke rehabilitation research at the UK Stroke Forum in December 2020.
