Pathways to Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science

Pathways to Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science is a free programme delivered by the University of Nottingham aimed at Year 12 and 13 students interested in a veterinary career. This brand new initiative will provide ongoing support to its members in Year 12 and 13 through a series of veterinary medicine and animal science-related masterclasses, information, advice and guidance sessions. 

Pathways to Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science is an excellent opportunity to enhance your university application.

Is it for you?

To apply, you must:

  • attend and have always attended, a state-funded, non fee-paying school/college
  • be in Year 12 at the start of the programme
  • be studying three or more A levels (or equivalent), including a Science

In addition, we are looking for students who meet some of the following criteria:

  • have achieved at least five GCSE's at grades 9 - 6 (A*-B), including English and Maths. A minimum of two of these qualifications should be at grades 9 - 7
  • would be the first generation in their family to attend university
  • have been in receipt of Free School Meals whilst at secondary school
  • have attended schools with a lower than average progression to higher education, or a higher than average proportion of students who qualify for Free School Meals
  • Live in a neighbourhood with a low rate of progression to higher education or a high level of socio-economic deprivation 
  • have been looked after or in care
