The Xpert Repository

Xpert is a repository of open educational learning resources made freely available for sharing and reuse from a variety of institutions around the world.

Publishing Content to Xpert

Xpert is a distributed repository: the resources remain with the institutions that publish them. Xpert uses RSS feeds to harvest content and make it available through its search engine:

http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/xpert/

Xerte Online Toolkits makes it very easy to publish content into the Xpert repository, and is in use in a growing number of institutions around the world. The Xpert repository aims to make a critical mass of content available for re-use, re-purposing and adaptation.

Xerte Online Toolkits makes it simple to add content to the Xpert repository so that it can easily be found by others who may want to re-use or re-purpose it. The integration between Xpert and Xerte Online Toolkits allows the actual source code of learning materials to be easily shared and re-used by other institutions, and content is easily moved from one installation of Xerte Online Toolkits to another. If you use Xerte Online Toolkits and would like to include content from your institution in the respository, submit the address of your feed on the Xpert website.

For more information, see this guide:
Open Content and the Xpert Repository

If you don't use Xerte Online Toolkits, any content can be added to Xpert through a standard RSS feed - it doesn't have to be produced using Xerte Online Toolkits. If you would like to contribute to a growing collection of open materials, submit your RSS feed on the xpert website.
