Closure of Green Paper consultation phase

BioEnergy and Brewing Science Building2

I would like to thank all the colleagues, students and alumni that took the time to share their feedback and ideas to the Green Paper consultation on the new University strategy.

The consultation received submissions from more than 2,000 individuals and groups across the institution, and I enjoyed meeting many of you at the strategy consultation events held across our UK, China and Malaysia campuses. It was good to talk through your suggestions and to discuss the issues and opportunities as you see them. In addition to the longer-term strategic issues colleagues raised more immediate concerns. I truly appreciate you sharing these with us and can assure you that these concerns were heard and we will look to address these wherever we can.

Also, many colleagues discussed as a team the strategic areas that we should focus on and very kindly provided us with a group response. In order to proactively gather ideas from students, we held consultation stalls where they were asked how we could improve the student experience. All these initiatives were held in addition to the online questionnaire which encouraged you to share your personal views more fully.

Now that the Green Paper consultation phase has closed, we are collating and analysing the responses that have been received. I am delighted to report that we received in excess of 17,000 individual pieces of feedback. All your ideas will be reviewed in detail to identify key themes and priorities as we move to the next phase of the process.

Work is now underway to produce a draft University Strategy, in the shape of a White Paper, with further opportunity for colleagues to input during the summer. We will also publish a summary of the key themes and all the comments that have been received.

This is an exciting time for the University and I would like to thank you once again for helping us to shape our future. I know I will be able to count on your continued support as we move through the final consultation phase.

If you have any questions regarding the consultation for the new strategy please email scu@nottingham.ac.uk
