Raja Qaiser Ahmed, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad will present in the 2017/18 Institute of Asia and Pacific Studies Seminar Series, on Hindu Nationalism and Indian Foreign Policy towards Pakistan.

Short abstract

Hindu nationalism is a dominant rather overriding discourse in Indian polity. The seminar "Hindu Nationalism and Indian Foreign Policy towards Pakistan", will discuss the undercurrents of this powerful discourse to dissect its impact on India's foreign relations towards Pakistan. It will further explicate the dominant political rhetoric of Hindutva, historical anecdotes, its rise as a political narrative and its subsequent impact on India's dealing towards Pakistan. Challenges to India-Pakistan relations under Modi will also be the part of the discussion.

Speaker biography

Raja Qaiser Ahmed is Lecturer in the School of Politics and International Relations at Quaid I Azam University Islamabad, Pakistan. He is currently Associate at the University of Nottingham. His areas of research include Politics and Foreign Policy of India, International Politics of South Asia and Democracy and Federalism in Pakistan. He has published extensively on the said topics.
