The University of Nottingham Ningbo China in collaboration with the Infrastructure Software Engineering company Bentley Systems and Bentley Academy (under the auspices of the Bentley Institute) successfully ran two international workshops in Indonesia at Binus University. The aim of both workshops was to increase the awareness of BIM.

The first workshop was delivered to first year students from the following programmes: Civil Engineering, IndustrialEngineering, Architecture, Industrial Engineers and Interior Design. The second workshop received a big number of participants coming from industry; notably they included Binus University, PT Cipta Baja Trimatra, PT Wika Kobe, PDW Architects, Kementrian Pekerjaan Umum PErumahan Rakyat, PT Perintis Triniti Properti, PT Andal, PT Surya Dhoho Investama, PT Andal, PT Bangun Inti Persada, PSPPI, Traz Pro, PT Waskita Karya, Trintiland - Marcsboulevard and Universitas Trisakati.

The speakers of the International Workshops were:

Assistant Professor Dr. Georgios Kapogiannis demonstrated how different digital technologies in BIM could be integrated to existing tools and thus create a dynamic collaborative culture in both a project and a construction business.

Mr Kuthur Sriram introduced how the Bentley Institute could help the advancing infrastructure through Digital Advancement Academies; educating owner-operators, contractors, and the supply chain involved in the creation and operation of assets helps ensure all collaborators fully understand the digital processes, standards, and deliverables necessary for successful project outcomes.

Mr Febriandianto Prabowo a UNNC graduate of our prestigious MSc in Geospatial Engineering with BIM demonstrated how integration of GIS andBIM added value to the next generation of smart buildings.

Mr Fadhlurrangam Fjri Riyanto and Miss DindaMultara Savitri demonstrated how Information Modelling was applied in Indonesian Industry through real case studies.

Speakers also visited the Apple Developer Academy that runs in collaboration with Binus University. During this visit Dr GeorgiosKapogianins reported “..that Apple Developer Academy is the best example that our Architecture, Engineering and Construction Industry must follow in order to create a full immersive, integrated and intelligent collaborative environment – culture. Moreover, BIM and Its future (Digital Construction) is not only about technologies….but integration of people, process and technologies…”

Dr Georgios Kapogiannis was also congratulated and awarded with a prize for his contribution on BIM and DigitalConstruction to Binus University by the Dean of Faculty of Engineering Dr Ir. John Fredy Bobby Saragih M.SI.
