Your careers consultants are Kirstin Barnard and Lucie Whitfield. They are based at the Careers and Employability Service in the Portland Building.

They offer individual careers appointment and a timetable of events. To book an appointment or a place on their events, log into MyCareer, our online booking service.

    Find out about what a narrative CV is and how you can use these kind of CVs in the future-We are running this webinar in collaboration with the Researcher Academy who will be discussing what available support there is in their Team. Research Intelligence Librarians will talk about finding evidence of research impact and the Careers Service will be looking at how you can use them to showcase your transferable skills and strengths from a multi-disciplinary and collaborative angle.
 

Unlocking Career Confidence - spring 2026

Are you looking to boost your career confidence and unlock your full potential? 

Our Research Staff: Unlocking Career Confidence Programme is designed specifically for you as research staff to support you in gaining the tools and confidence to do this.   

In our new programme, we are running three workshops - two in person and one via a webinar.  Alongside the programme, you will have the opportunity to have an hour Strengths Coaching appointment where you will complete an online psychological questionnaire and one of our experienced advisers will spend time focusing on your strengths and how to use these in your future careers. 

When signing up for the programme we ask that you are attend all the sessions below:

  • Tuesday 24 February, 1.30-4pm, ESLC (in-person) - Unlocking your career confidence skills
  • Thursday 12 March 12-1 pm, webinar - Preparing for an interview
  • Tuesday 17 March - 1.30-4pm, Highfield House Graduate Centre,  (in-person) - Using your networking and interview experience
  • Strengths Coaching appointments available to book either in-person or Teams for w/c 2 and 9 March

By participating in our Career Confidence Programme, you'll develop a stronger sense of self-assurance, enabling you to tackle challenges head-on and seize new opportunities.
