E-Learning

Integration is the concept that allows for diversity to flourish, without chaos. Academics need to use the web for learning and teaching in many different ways, according to the nature of their subject. The e-Learning strategy recognised and welcomed this diversity, and we have the situation where different Virtual Learning Environments and web-based resources co-exist. There would be no obvious place to start, were it not for the integrating layer that the portal provides. As the student logs in, the system looks up their modules, and presents those within a channel, with links to reach the appropriate location.

From both the student perspective, and the need to promote a visible culture of academics using the web to support learning, Compass has been identified as a central plank of the eLearning strategy.
