Speakers: Laura Carletti and Dominic Price

ArtMaps is a project exploring the nature of what it means to position 'social' data in the world and how it can change our perceptions of the world around us. Originally conceived as a project to crowd-source geographic information about artworks held by the Tate the project metamorphosed into something more. This talk will be in two parts, one will introduce the audience to the technical architecture of the platform underpinning ArtMaps, the other will explore the social aspects of the project alongside some discussion of some preliminary findings.

Since joining Horizon he has worked on Cloudpad, A Crowd-Sourcing Toolkit and ArtMaps. His interests are in technologies that support the 'non-technical in doing the technical'. He is currently working on the CREATe project investigating the commonalties between social networks and the portability of self between them.
