Speaker: Dr. Paul Selwood (Met Office)
Abstract: The Met Office has long been a user of High Performance Computing to support its activities in weather prediction and climate research. This talk will start by giving an overview of the numerical weather prediction and climate research models used at the Met Office and the HPC platforms that make solving these problems possible. All users of HPC are currently having to deal with utilising ever increasing levels of concurrency. This talk will cover how the Met Office is addressing this challenge for both the long term and the immediate future.
