Dr. Tony Collings, Principal Scientist at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in Australia

11.45am (refreshments) for 12 noon (seminar) 

Drug delivery systems are designed to improve the safety and/or efficacy of a therapeutic agent while simultaneously enhancing patient compliance. The focus is now on targeting a particular body site and/or providing timed release of the active agent. In this seminar the following topics will be discussed: the use of gels, gelation phenomena and measurement, encapsulation of agents in liposomes, sonoporation and siRNA , the “hot” topic.
