Undergraduate Programming Competition

Date(s)
Friday 28th September 2012 (10:00-16:00)
Description

Something new: this year we (the School, with CompSoc) are running a competition that is open to all undergraduates going into the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th undergraduate years (or Part 1, 2, and 3 — or those who qualified past the qualifying year— whichever way you look at it). Details are below and even more on the link.

Week1 Programming Competition

Prizes (Amazon vouchers per team)

1st prize £300
2nd prize £150
3rd prize £75

Chance to compete, on behalf of Nottingham, in Amsterdam in November

Details/Sign up here: http://uon-cs-w1-comp.eventbrite.co.uk/

Free Pizza for lunch (for competitors)

Supported by CompSoc—open to all undergrads

The competition has two main aims:

  1. Something interesting for week1 that's not focused on freshers
  2. A way to find excellent UoN CS students who are up to competing against other European universities.
You sign up in teams of 3 (although you can register as 'looking for a team'). There'll be around 10 problems to solve in 5 hours—with 3 people on 1 computer.  We'll send preparation information to teams that register. There is a maximum capacity—so sign up early.
