A reminder about face coverings and safety on campus

Monday, 08 March 2021
As students on practical courses are permitted to resume in-person teaching as part of the Prime Minister’s roadmap we’d like to remind everyone of the rules around face coverings and safety on campus.

The health and safety of our community is our highest priority, and we will all need to make adjustments to the way we live and work.

Please ensure you adhere to the following on our campuses and ensure you are aware of – and follow – specific local rules, such as in halls or libraries, where these are displayed.

Face coverings

Face coverings must be worn inside all University buildings and temporary structures, including marquees. This includes in lecture theatres, laboratories, libraries (including study spaces), corridors and teaching rooms.

You may wish to bring your own, but additional face coverings will be available at key points across our campuses for those who don't have one. Exceptions may apply, such as to those with personal health requirements and hidden conditions such as anxiety.

Keeping your covering clean

You should wash your hands before and after touching your covering and you should store it in a sealable plastic bag when not in use. You may want to bring multiple coverings to use across the course of the day as once a covering becomes damp it should not be worn.

All those on campus should also make themselves familiar with our other safety measures on campus. This includes following hygiene procedures, following campus signage, maintaining social distancing and following isolation and reporting advice.
