This training exercise is due to take place on University Park campus.
On Tuesday 6 May the School of Health Sciences will run a large-scale simulation event on the car park between Trent Building and Portland Building in collaboration with partners from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue and East Midlands Ambulance Service.
At around 8am a road accident scene will be set up using two scrap cars. You may see emergency services vehicles and staff begin to assemble throughout the late morning.
At approximately 1pm, university staff, emergency services and around 120 students will begin to assemble at the site before the simulation commences at 2pm. This will include a very short sounding of sirens as emergency vehicles arrive at the scene and begin work. There will also be some noise from vehicle engines, and a short period of loud noise when cutting equipment is used to remove the roof from one of the cars. We hope that disruption from the event will be minimal, however it is important that the simulation looks and feels as real as possible.
Signage will be placed on the approach to the site from all directions warning of the event, and ensuring there is an opportunity to take another route for anyone who would find the scene upsetting or concerning.
