Every October, we take the time and space to celebrate Black history, culture, and achievements.
Black History Month recognises the invaluable contributions of Black people to our university, our communities and our society as a whole. It also serves as an opportunity to inspire and empower future generations.
This year’s Black History Month theme is 'Standing firm in power and pride' a powerful tribute to the resilience, strength, and unwavering commitment to progress that defines the Black community across the globe.
Standing Firm in Power and Pride is a real moment for us to uplift the beauty and strength of the Black diaspora in its entirety, regardless of our heritage and ancestry. The events being planned across the university are an invitation for us all to learn, connect and belong.
What's on this year?
The university and our Student's Union will be hosting a range of events and gatherings to celebrate Black History Month. The full event listing can be found on the EDI SharePoint site below. This will be updated as more events are announced.
