Celebrating the class of 2020: Graduating... but not graduation

Tuesday, 16 June 2020
In place of on-campus graduations this summer, the University will be holding a day of celebration across social media on Friday 24 July.

As part of our unique graduating Class of 2020, we want to reassure you that everything is on track for you to graduate this summer as planned, albeit not in the normal way. We appreciate the uncertainty of these times but will do everything we can to ensure you are supported over the coming months and beyond. There is nothing for you to do at this stage, but we will be in touch shortly to ask you check all of your details are correct in MyNottingham.

To confirm, in line with government advice, the University of Nottingham will not be holding physical graduation ceremonies this summer. Instead, you will graduate in absentia and your certificate will be posted to you. There is no option to defer your graduation this year.

Please be assured that we will be inviting you to a special graduation ceremony as soon as it is safe to host such an event on campus again. We know how important it is for you to share this celebration with your family and friends and want to give you every opportunity to enjoy the experience you and they deserve. However, whilst we are unable to welcome you onto campus this summer, the University would like to take the opportunity to celebrate your achievements as our graduating Class of 2020.

To that end, please save the date of Friday 24 July 2020 for a day of celebration across social media united by the hashtag #WeAreUoN. Our plan is to try and bring you together virtually; with each other, with your Schools and teachers, as well as with your new global community of alumni – for a graduation without borders.

Please keep an eye out for future emails. For now, stay safe and well.
