Covid-19 vaccinations for international students

Wednesday, 14 April 2021
International students who live in the UK and are registered with a General Practitioner (GP) can access a vaccine in the same way as the rest of the population.

Provided you registered with a GP on arrival in the UK, you can access the Covid-19 vaccine in the same way that you access other healthcare services.

This means that, at the time of publication, older international students or those who have underlying medical conditions and fall into priority categories can access the vaccine. Anyone else will be able to do so once their age group is invited for vaccination.

Once you are eligible for vaccination you will be contacted directly by your GP surgery. You do not need to contact your GP surgery proactively.

If you are not currently registered with a GP, you should do so at your earliest opportunity. Most University of Nottingham students are eligible to register with the University of Nottingham Health Service – anyone living at or around Sutton Bonington is advised to register with a surgery local to the area. More advice on UK health services is available on our Welcome website.

Anyone who lives in the UK is entitled to receive NHS Primary Care medical services at a GP surgery for free at the point of use.
