Help spot and record the nature on our campuses.
Join the Sustainability team for a Bioblitz event and spend time recording the nature and wildlife present. From plants to bugs, birds and bunnies, your work will help teams monitor the wildlife that calls our university home so that we may make important decisions about how to enhance and protect their habitats.
This event is part of the City Nature Challenge 2025 which runs from Friday 25 - Monday 28 April and plans to demonstrate what can be accomplished when we all work towards a common environmental goal.
The day will start with a short training session before you head out onto campus to record the nature you spot. To take part you will need a smart phone as you will be required to download the iNaturalist app on the day. You may also wish to download the Merlin bird app which can identify birds from their song.
The Bioblitz event will take place on Monday 28 April from 12.15-4pm on University Park campus. Lunch is provided and spaces are limited, so registration is essential. You are welcome to join for part of the day if you are unable to commit to the whole session.
If you can’t make the event, you can still get involved. Record wildlife on University Park or Jubilee campuses between Friday 25 - Monday 28 April and contribute to the challenge.
These activities are part of the university’s Wilding Campuses Project, a regional partnership to restore local natural heritage, led by SOS-UK and made possible with the Heritage Fund and thanks to National Lottery players.
