Get tested before you travel home

Wednesday, 26 May 2021
As we approach the end of term, please remember to take an asymptomatic Covid-19 test if you are leaving Nottingham.

Regular testing helps to reduce transmission whilst protecting family and loved ones.

Please book a test in advance to ensure you can travel safely on your chosen date and remember that opening times for the service will vary slightly over the bank holiday weekend.

Anyone who tests positive will be legally required to self-isolate for ten days and should not travel.

When travelling to and from the university, please follow the coronavirus safer travel guidance for passengers. This includes guidance for using public transport, such as avoiding busy times and routes, along with advice on other measures you should take to keep everyone around you safe.

There will no longer be a legal restriction or permitted reason required to travel internationally. A traffic light system is currently in place for international travel, and you must follow the rules when returning to England depending on whether you return from a red, amber or green list country.

You are reminded to book your weekly asymptomatic tests, even when infection rates have dropped. Jonathan Ball, Professor of Molecular Virology, said: “Unfortunately, we know the virus is still out there. It’s still infecting people and that’s why it’s important, even when levels are low, that you continue to get tested”.

He explains more in the following video.
