The Black Students Group is a safe and welcoming space for students of African-Caribbean and mixed heritage to talk about mental health, wellbeing, and life at university.
The Black Students Group is a safe and welcoming space for students of African-Caribbean and mixed heritage to talk about mental health, wellbeing, and life at university.
Sessions are led by two Black facilitators from the University Counselling Service, who are of African-Caribbean heritage and have lots of experience supporting students from diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
Each week, you’ll have chance to:
- Meet and connect with other Black students
- Share and reflect on your experiences
- Learn helpful ways to look after yourself and manage challenges.
Topics might include student life and culture, finding and using support services, dealing with racial trauma, balancing academic and family expectations, diaspora experiences, and other issues that matter to Black students.
The group is all about building community, support, and understanding – both during the sessions and beyond.
The group starts on Wednesday 22 October and runs for 7 weeks at Orchards Building, University Park Campus.
