New spaces for men to connect, reflect and recharge

Thursday, 10 July 2025
The university is introducing two new spaces for men to help take care of their mental wellbeing – whether you feel like talking, staying quiet, or just taking a moment to breathe.

Cripps allotment wellbeing sessions

A relaxed, informal space designed specifically for men - take a break from the busyness of the day and spend some time outdoors, either in quiet reflection or meaningful conversation. Tend to the garden, plant something new, fix a few things, or just enjoy being in nature. There’s no pressure to contribute - You’re welcome to take part in whatever feels right for you.

Tea, coffee, soft drinks and biscuits will be on offer. All staff and students who identify as male are welcome to join, regardless of background or role. Sessions take place every other Tuesday from 12.15pm to 1pm between Tuesday 22 July and Tuesday 28 October.

Lunchtime walk and talk

To some of us, talking comes as naturally as breathing, but to others it can be difficult to feel safe and welcome to open up. Our lunchtime walk and talk sessions aim to offer you an opportunity to take part and perhaps overcome this.

These walks will take place every other week from Tuesday 15 July - Tuesday 16 December between 12.15pm and 1pm outside Lakeside Arts on University Park Campus. From there we’ll take a short stroll, enjoy the outdoors, and maybe even start a conversation.

Need further support? You can reach out to our services via our wellbeing pages or through our report and support service.
