Subsidising printing costs

Monday, 18 January 2021
While the majority of our staff and students are not currently on campus, the University has decided to subsidise printing costs for staff and students to keep those costs low for those users who are able to access the campuses.

In 2020-21, around half of our community have not been able to use the print services available on campus. While this substantial reduction in the amount of printing helps our efforts to be sustainable, it also means that the cost per item of printing under our central contract has increased. Rather than allocate a small print allowance to all students this year which would be unused, the University will reallocate this budget to subsidise the costs of printing in order to keep prices low for everyone.

This decision does not affect any individual print allowance that may have been issued by a school or department. The allocation of central print allowance will be reviewed again later in the year in preparation for the 2021-22 academic year.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
