1,064 of you completed the Race Equality Student Survey, representing around 3% of our UK-based students.
The survey concluded on Friday 12 December with completion rates showing a slight increase since we last ran the survey in 2019.
Initial data suggests that approximately 55% of respondents were racially minoritised students, compared to 39% of whom were white. However, we need to do more work to further analyse this data.
We will be running focus groups to further investigate the trends in the data. We anticipate those taking place this term.
The survey results – along with other upcoming engagement opportunities – will be used to develop our new Race Equality Action Plan for 2026-31. The plan will form part of the Race Equality Charter (REC) Silver Submission to Advance HE in July 2026.
We’ll keep you updated as work on this progresses, and let you know when there are opportunities to engage.

Thank you again to everyone who took part in the survey. Your responses are valued and really make a positive difference to life at the University of Nottingham. If you’d like to provide further feedback about your student experience, there are currently a few opportunities.
