University Mental Health Charter Programme

Thursday, 06 October 2022
As part of our commitment to your health and wellbeing, the University of Nottingham has signed up to the University Mental Health Charter Programme.

The University Mental Health Charter Programme is run by Student Minds – the UK’s student mental health charity. Its CEO is also Rosie Tressler, a Nottingham alumna and former Equal Opportunities and Welfare Officer at our Students’ Union. The programme brings together universities to share best practice in mental health provision and provides staff access to an online hub of resources and live workshops to help improve and develop strategy, policy and practice in mental health services.

It is recognised that one in three students will experience poor mental health at some point during their studies. Our new MyWellbeing Hub brings together mental health and other welfare support, allowing you to speak to our Support and Wellbeing team, get a referral to the Counselling Service, or access a range of resources.

Support is also available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year with the Togetherall app. Sign-up is free with your university email address – it takes five minutes and you’ll have immediate access to courses, and wellbeing tools like journalling, goal-setting and self-assessments. You’ll also be able to chat to other peers or trained professionals anonymously.

Security staff, all of whom are trained in Mental Health First Aid, and our Residential Experience team – who also receive training in Mental Health support – in halls of residence are on hand for any of you that may need a little extra help. They are a great first port of call if you are ever in need of any help or advice.

Further support is now available through Student Minds – whether it’s for yourself or a loved one. The charity delivers student-led peer support programmes as well as providing research-driven training and workshops to students and staff in universities across the UK. You can find out more on the Student Minds webpage.
