Walid Tizani is part of the Centre for Structural Engineering & Informatics Research group.

Expertise Summary

Dr Tizani's main research areas are the application of novel information technologies to structures and the performance of steel connections. His experience includes the application of knowledge based systems and object oriented technology in the provision of advice and decision support for structural design; virtual reality in the design of structural steelwork; virtual prototyping; construction-led and integrated design; the economic appraisal of structural steelwork; collaborative design. His experimental work includes the investigation of the performance of bolted connections in structural steelwork including blind-bolt connection to tubular hollow sections. He acted as a consultant in the areas of: Structural engineering with special emphasis on steelwork, Design of structural steelwork connections, and Software system development for structural engineering applications.

Dr Tizani is also the head of the Centre for Structural Engineering & Informatics Research Group.
