Nottingham Africa Policy Dialogues
Through the Nottingham Africa Policy Dialogues, the University will highlight existing areas of research expertise whilst hearing from key policy makers and industry leaders on their priorities and activities. This will also serve to inform the University’s future research and collaboration strategy for and with Africa.
Over the coming year the University will host several high profile events with distinguished speakers on topics of relevance to African countries. The first event, held in July 2021, welcomed keynote addresses from the Vice President of Ghana, and the Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Tanzania.
The University of Nottingham was pleased to welcome His Excellency Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, current Vice-President of the Republic of Ghana, as keynote speaker of the first Nottingham Africa Policy Dialogue on 26 July 2021.
His Excellency Alhaji Dr Bawumia spoke on “Digital Transformation in the Public Sector: Lesson and Opportunities from Ghana”.
The Honourable Dr Faustine Nduguile, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, United Republic of Tanzania, also joined the panel discussion sharing experiences from Tanzania.
Alongside our distinguished guests, Professor Nicola Pitchford and Associate Professor Yan Chen delivered inspiring talks on their work on using digital technologies to transform learning skills in Malawi, and on digital patient engagement for cancer screening.
