2. What is manual therapy ‘Mobilisation’?

  • Mobilisation is one form of manual therapy
  • It is passive, slow oscillatory movement with the aim to decrease pain and / or increase mobility
  • Mobilisation is usually performed in rounds of 30 – 60 per minute based on feedback of the patients pain and the feel of the tissues ‘1-2 hz per sec’
  • They can allow the therapist to feel for resistance, swelling, heat, quality and quantity of movement
