Manual therapy ‘mobilisation’ techniques of the shoulder girdle
4. AP Assessment
When first performing an accessory movement the therapist must establish when in the movement pain is experienced by the client in relation to the resistance of the tissues.
This is established by performing one slow accessory technique through range (in this example an AP for flexion or medial rotation) and noting when the client reports pain, and whether this is before or after the onset of resistance, this information is used to determine the grade.
