Manual therapy ‘mobilisation’ techniques of the shoulder girdle
7. AP GHJ grade II
This video shows the therapist performing a grade 3 antero-posterior accessory mobilisation to the gleno-humeral joint in its neutral position, from the side view, note the therapist shoulders are directly above the clients shoulder to ensure the best mechanical advantage of the therapist.
From the front view of the client note the left hand is fixing the scapula via the spine of the scapular, and the right hand is performing the antero-posterior accessory movement.
Grade 3 is a large oscillatory movement into resistance. This is usually performed for around 30 seconds within each round of mobilisations, the clients response to movement should be assessed pre and post mobilisation to gauge the response to the mobilisation.
