COVID-19 Education for African Students
6. When to self-isolate
You should stay at home and self-isolate if:
- you have any of the most common symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, persistent dry cough or loss of taste and smell) even if you only have mild symptoms
- you have had a positive COVID-19 test
- you have been in recent close contact with someone who has tested positive or has COVID-19 symptoms
What else can you do?
- ask for help from friends to avoid having to go out
- ask them to leave food outside your door
- stay in close contact with friends and family via phone or internet
- get a COVID-19 test if you can
- if you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention immediately
- keep up to date with the latest information from trusted sources, such as WHO or your local and national health authorities
- have a look at the COVEDAS resources section for useful links to local support and current advice
