Alison Mohr appointed as Core Member of the UKRI-BBSRC Bioscience for Renewable Resources and Clean Growth Strategy Advisory Panel

Alison is the first social scientist to be appointed to the Panel.

Strategy Advisory Panels play a key role in delivering UKRI-BBSRC's mission by providing expert input and advice that helps shape and develop strategy and ensures that investment decisions are supported by expert knowledge and insight from members of the scientific research and innovation community, including those with broad experience between and across disciplines.

Members of Strategy Advisory Panels are responsible for developing and maintaining an overview of research, training and innovation across the biosciences, in universities, research institutes, and business in the UK and globally, and in doing so the Panels consider the relevant ethical, legal and social context.

Bioscience for Renewable Resources and Clean Growth is one of three strategic challenges identified by UKRI-BBSRC in its 2019 Delivery Plan. The Advisory Panel will focus on: developing and maintaining an overview of relevant research, training and knowledge exchange across the BBSRC community; maintaining an overview of the research, training and knowledge exchange activities supported by other sponsors nationally and internationally; advising on the strategic direction of BBSRC research, training and knowledge exchange to maintain UK competitiveness; and advising on building a multidisciplinary research community and supporting delivery of industrial biotechnology in the UK.
