Professor Robert McCorquodale appointed to UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights

The School of Law is delighted to report that the United Nations Human Rights Council has appointed Professor Robert McCorquodale to be a member of the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights. This is an expert body of 5 people from around the globe, appointed for 6 years each, who seek to provide guidance and clarification in this field for companies, states and civil society. They can also take some complaints and do country visits. It is a part-time role, with most meetings and consultations being in Geneva.

In Robert’s words: “It is an honour and a privilege to be appointed - after a long process - and I look forward to the challenge. I know that the teaching and research I have done at the School of Law was crucial to my appointment”.

We are sure you will join us in congratulating Robert on his appointment and wish him every success in his new role!
