School of Law

About Us

Welcome from the Head of School

The School of Law is situated in the idyllic surrounds of the beautiful University Park Campus - the perfect location for studying, access to first-class facilities and the hub of student life.

We value excellence in teaching coupled with a strong research base and have a broad range of impressive teaching and research activities. Our students and staff come from all over the UK and the world.

The School of Law is consistently ranked among the leading law schools in the UK and we are a world-ranked centre for legal research and teaching and have been rated as excellent in both areas.

The school was ranked equal 6th in terms of research power in the latest Research Excellence Framework, our staff are internationally recognised in their fields and are active scholars and teachers.

We are ranked 7th among law schools in England and Wales in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2019, and 12th in The Complete University Guide 2019, as well as top 100 worldwide for law in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2018.

Our teaching excellence is often recognised, with our staff winning awards and commendations, including Lord Dearing Awards and Students' Union Staff Oscars.

The School of Law is also home to a number of societies, catering for a wide variety of activities that are of interest to undergraduate law students. All of these societies are run by current students from the school, elected to committee by their fellow students.

We wish you the best of luck with your studies and look forward to welcoming you to the school.
