Dr David Mangan's seminar on 'Digitalisation of work: the threshold is the place to pause'

UNCLC-David-Mangan
On Wednesday 29 March 2023, an intriguing UNCLC student seminar series on 'workforce implications of innovations' was presented by Dr David Mangan, assistant professor at Maynooth University. During this presentation, the audience were informed about the commercial trajectory set for work by innovations in information technology. As an example, the case study of 'Heller v Uber' was discussed where Dr Mangan explained how the platform or ‘gig’ economy has exploited the grey area of classification of employment due to the underdetermined boundary of commercial and labour law. We thank Dr Mangan for his time and wish to see him soon in the future!

This event was chaired by Dr Reza Beheshti.
