Colonel Thomas Bernard (c.1769-1834; M.P.)

Of Castle Bernard near Kinitty, King's County [co. Offaly], Colonel Bernard commanded a local volunteer corps called the 'Mountain Rangers' in the 1798 Irish Rebellion.

Bernard was elected as the Tory M.P. for King's County in 1802, but was defeated by Nicholas Fitzsimon in the general election of December 1832 following the extension of the franchise.
