Biography

Angeli completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology at the Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines, and her MSc in Occupational Health Psychology and PhD in Applied Psychology degrees at the University of Nottingham. From 2008-2015 she was seconded to the Malaysia Campus where she spearheaded the establishment of the School of Applied Psychology was later appointed Associate Dean (Teaching and Learning) for the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Since her return to the School of Medicine she has been actively involved in postgraduate education, including serving as Course Director for the MSc Work & Organisational Psychology, Director of PGT Quality Assurance and co-Director of PGT Assessments. She has also supervised more than a dozen PhD students over the years. Under the previous School of Medicine structure, she was equality, diversity and inclusion lead for the Division of Psychiatry and Applied Psychology and member of it's Executive.. Currently, she is Academic Unit Director of Mental Health and Clinical Neurosicences, which is the biggest academic unit within the School of Medicine, comprising 200 staff and six academic communities

Angeli has a keen interest in innovative modes of teaching and learning. Her teaching portfolio includes a diverse range of areas including occupational health psychology, research methods, social and cross-cultural psychology. In 2012/3 she was awarded a Chancellor's Award for excellence in teaching and learning and was later appointed Associate Dean (Teaching and Learning) for the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the Malaysia Campus in 2013. During her tenure as Associate Dean she was responsible for piloting the University's first cross-disciplinary peer observation college and co-developing and implementing the University's first tri-campus online module on Global Psychology and Communications, an initiative funded by the University's Teaching and Learning Board, together with colleagues in Malaysia (Jessica Dunn), the UK (Nicola Pitchford) and China (Margaret Dowens),. She has also acted as a PGCHE advisor and assessor, and served on various teaching and learning committees including PGCHE Management Board, Quality and Standards Committee, and Faculty Directors of Teaching and Learning.

Current Research

As a researcher she worked on a number of projects on work-related violence and occupational stress in the police service which formed the basis for her PhD on Coping, support and the consequences of work-related violence to UK police personnel. Angeli's research experience in applied psychology has been wide ranging; from projects examining the impact of psychosocial factors on the occupational health of various occupational and at-risk groups, the assessment of emotional intelligence and management of emotions at work, and the identification of potential barriers to career-decision making and development of interventions to improve career opportunities. She has published in a number of book chapters and journal articles on these topics and regularly presents at major international conferences.
