Why did you choose to come to Nottingham?

I chose the UK because I wanted to study abroad at a good university and try something new. Nottingham was my first choice because of how green the campus is with parks and greenzones although it is still close to a town.

Why did you choose to study Natural Sciences?

Natural Sciences gives me the broad range of subject and the choice to tailor my degree to my wishes.

What advice would you give to anyone applying from overseas?

I found the Process was a bit convoluted at first with deadlines coming up all the time so I think the best advice is to start early and get all the language or other certificates needed as soon as possible

What aspect of the course do you enjoy most and why?

I enjoy both the social part and the practical part of my course most. There is a lot of overlap between them because although experiments in chemistry labs are done by yourself you are still in a group of friends and you can chat and make plans for after.

What have you enjoyed the most about studying in the UK?

I have enjoyed almost everything here. After a short period of getting used to the UK it has become a second home to me and I look forward to coming back and going to uni every time.

What do you do outside of the course and how has this impacted your university experience?

I have joined several societies some only for first year, but I am a member of NatSci soc and the canoe polo sports club. I am also a member of the committee of the latter

How did you settle into University?

I think it is important to meet people on your course as well as in your hall outside of regular lectures or dinner/breakfast times so you can build up a solid group of friends around you as a safety net if you are not feeling well. Because although it does not happen often but some days are just harder and it’s good to have the friends to help you cope

Have you had much chance to travel around the UK

It can be a little expensive but with a little bit of planning the train network is very good and cheaply available to travel around. Different societies or sports clubs may also go to different parts of the country to competitions and just for leisure.

What are you thinking about doing when you finish?

That’s a very good question which I cannot answer yet I haven’t found my way quite yet. It takes a lot of work finding out what you truly like but I hope that in the end it will be worth it.
