The School of Veterinary and Medicine Science at the University of Nottingham and Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital, offer an exciting 12-month internship including a postgraduate certificate.
Aimed at early career veterinary surgeons, this internship will develop clinical skills in wildlife surgery and medicine, combining clinical training with a formal qualification.
The internship will be based at Tiggywinkles Hospital, a clinical associate practice of the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science, where you will have the opportunity to fully immerse yourself in the management and treatment of around 14,000 wildlife casualties each year. Tiggywinkles is a registered veterinary practice that provides around-the-clock care for injured wild animals of all species found in the UK.
The successful applicant will spend much of their time supported by a vet on site who is an EBVS Veterinary Specialist in Avian Medicine and Surgery and an RCVS Specialist in Zoo and Wildlife Medicine. There will be multiple learning opportunities for both collaborative and independent case management, as well as developing skills in triage, supportive care, administration of medication, anaesthesia and surgery. There will be some night and weekend duties as part of the internship, as well as time to collect data for a research project, and time and support to undertake the RCVS VetGDP if necessary.
