Welcome from the Head of School
Welcome to the School of Politics and International Relations at the University of Nottingham.
We are a large and diverse school that covers many of the subject areas in contemporary politics. The expertise of our academics ranges across international relations, British politics, comparative politics and political theory.
Our staff have international reputations and we have a particular strength in the study of the Asia-Pacific area. Politics is taught and researched into at all three of Nottingham's campuses in the UK, China and Malaysia.
We are proud of our excellent teaching reputation and our commitment to students at undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD levels. Members of our school have won a string of both national and University teaching awards, including the UK Political Studies Association's Innovation in Teaching Award for three years out of the last four. We are also in the top 100 worldwide for politics and international relations in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2017.
As well as offering a range of degree programmes we are also a school committed to outstanding research. We organise our research around centres and institutes and undertake work that is designed to have a real impact on the wider world. Our scholars publish their research in the very best journals and with the top publishers.
We are also proud of our very active student Politics Society, which plays a full role in the life of the school. The society regularly holds a variety of events ranging from guest speakers, visits to Westminster, regular socials, and trips overseas, including Washington DC and Brussels in recent years.
The school website has lots of information about the school and our courses, but if you have any questions please contact us.
