The School of Politics and International Relation is delighted to announce that Artur Nadiiev has been awarded the School's Best PGR Thesis Prize for 2025 for this work on 'Ukraine's national identity and foreign policy, 2004-2014'. This award is in recognition of Artur's outstanding contribution to the field as judged by a panel of three independent assessors in the School.

Of his time at the University of Nottingham, Artur has said:

When I began my PhD in late 2019, I had no idea how challenging the years ahead would be. A global pandemic, a full-scale invasion, relocation to the UK, and rebuilding my life from scratch for the third time in a decade all shaped this journey, yet throughout it, I was sustained by the love, support, and encouragement of countless people. I am deeply grateful to my supervisors, especially Professor Bettina Renz, whose guidance, integrity, and kindness carried me through every challenge and whose support during the invasion went above and beyond, something for which I am eternally grateful. I also thank Nicholas Smith, Emilian Kavalski, Anna Meier, and Carl Gibson for their constructive feedback, the University of Nottingham Ningbo Graduate School for the initial scholarship, and Professor Caitlin Milazzo for enabling my transfer to the UK campus and securing everything I needed for the move. I am grateful to my viva examiners, Dr Louise Kettle and Professor Valentina Feklyunina, for their invaluable engagement with my work, and I deeply appreciate being awarded the Best Thesis Award, which is an honour I will always cherish. I also want to acknowledge the friendships that sustained me, including Thomas Eason, Benjamin Thomas, Charlie Bradley, and Sarah Jeu, whose conversations sharpened my thinking and whose company brought much-needed joy.

Congratulations Artur from all at the School of Politics and International Relations on this well deserved prize!
