Viva Success for doctoral research Weixiang Wang

Congratulations to School of Politics and International Relations' doctoral researcher Weixiang Wang on passing his PhD viva with minor corrections.

His thesis Online Key Opinion Leaders as Popular Propagandists: The Propagation of Cyber Nationalism on the Chinese Internet examines the co/reproduction and dissemination of nationalist messages in the cybersphere of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) , focusing on the role of nationalistic online key opinion leaders as “popular propagandists”. It highlights the "intermediary" level of Chinese nationalism situated between "official" and "popular" nationalism, and illustrates the broader implications of popular propagandists' communications towards China's digital politics and internet (sub)cultures.

Weixiang's PhD was supervised by Dr Jonathan Sullivan and Dr Gulshan Khan and examined by Professor Bingchun Meng (LSE) and Dr Pauline Eadie.

Congratulations Weixiang!
