Congratulations to the School of Politics and International Relations' doctoral research student Oliver Dodd who recently passed his PhD viva.
His doctoral thesis, ‘Beyond the Battlefield: The Political Economy of Armed Conflict and Peace in Colombia’, analyses the outbreak, escalation, and decline of the Colombian armed conflict leading to the 2016 peace agreement from an international political economy perspective. Incorporating extensive fieldwork—including archival documents and interviews with a range of key strategic actors—the thesis challenges dominant narratives by demonstrating how agent motivations and strategies were linked to the broader dynamics of the international political economy.
Oliver's thesis was examined by Dr Gulshan Khan (University of Nottingham) and Professor Adam Morton (University of Sydney). His PhD was supervised by Professor Andreas Bieler and Professor Antoni Kapcia.
Congratulations Oliver!
