Professor Sue Arrowsmith QC (hon) appointed to the Procurement Review Board of the European Space Agency

Professor Sue Arrowsmith QC (hon), Professor Emerita, will serve as one of the six members of the Procurement Review Board of the European Space Agency.

This is one European organisation in which the UK still participates, with a mission to shape the development of European space capability and ensure that space-related investment delivers real benefits through European cooperation. Around 90% of the Agency’s budget is spent through procurement, with its best-known projects including the Hubble telescope (in collaboration with NASA) and the Euclid space telescope.

The Review Board sits at the apex of the Agency’s review system that seeks to ensure that this money is spent in accordance with the Agency’s Procurement Regulations; its remit is to adjudicate on cases brought by suppliers that remain unresolved following consideration by both the Head of the Agency’s Procurement Department and, on appeal, by the Ombudsman.
