Online forum: survivors of Modern Slavery and the interplay of exploitation with learning disabilities

About this event

This online forum, hosted by the Human Trafficking Foundation and the Snowdrop Project, will investigate the under-explored correlation between learning disabilities and Modern Slavery.

Learn more about the challenges that practitioners and survivors with learning disabilities face from experiences of navigating the NRM and asylum systems, not receiving additional support in interviews, issues surrounding undiagnosed learning disabilities and the absence of guidance for frontline staff in this area.

Speakers will also discuss recommendations on how the Anti-Trafficking sector can better support survivors with diagnosed and undiagnosed cognitive impairments and examine areas of policy change that could make it easier for survivors of trafficking with learning disabilities to access services. We hope this event will help spotlight these concerns and lead to tangible improvements for service users.

Joining us on the panel:

• Lara Bundock, Snowdrop Project

• Sarah Goff, Ann Craft Trust

• Noelle Blackman, Respond

• Kevin Murphy, NWG Exploitation Response Unit

• Dr Alison Gardner, RightsLab

• Jennifer Blair, Migrants Organise

• Ann-Marie Douglas, The Salvation Army

There will also be time to join the discussion and to ask questions.
