Anastasiia Kliuha

Rights Lab Research Fellow in Human Rights and Justice Standards Lead

Anastasiia Kliuha works as part of the Rights Lab’s Law and Policy Programme, conducting research on the criminal justice system’s response to forced labour and labour trafficking across different countries. She is a human rights professional with over 10 years of experience addressing issues such as torture prevention and modern slavery.

Before joining the Rights Lab, Anastasiia worked as a human rights expert for both the government and NGOs in Ukraine. She co-authored Ukraine's National Strategy for the Prevention of Torture in the criminal justice system, approved by the Prosecutor General in 2021, and co-founded the NGO JustGroup, which supports the transformation of the criminal justice system into a fair, efficient, and human-centred system.

Her professional experience includes preventing torture at places of detention, both at a field level and in policy making, as well as delivering workshops for government officials and NGOs on compliance with international human rights standards . She also serves as a national consultant for the Council of Europe in Ukraine. Anastasiia holds a Master’s in History and an LLM in Human Rights Law, the latter funded by a Chevening Scholarship.
