Diana Popescu-Sarry

Rights Lab Assistant Professor in Political Theory

Email: Diana.Popescu-Sarry@nottingham.ac.uk

Dr Diana Popescu-Sarry works as part of the Rights Lab’s Law and Policy programme. With a research background in discrimination theory, deliberative democracy, and complex injustices against women and minority groups, Diana is currently leading a project advocating for extending legal anti-discrimination protections to survivors of human trafficking, modern slavery, and domestic violence. She is interested in producing normative yet empirically-informed work on why survivor status should be regarded as a genuine legal category, building on her previous work on the social construction of legally protected characteristics, her ongoing research into the interplay between social dispositions and protected characteristics, and the Rights Lab's work on translating survivor voices into legal and policy initiatives.
