Rights Lab Visiting Fellow in Sustainable Rehabilitation

Dilraj Singh is a Rights Lab Visiting Fellow in Sustainable Rehabilitation and a member of the Governing Board of Volunteers for Social Justice (VSJ). One of the Rights Lab’s partner organisations, VSJ has been engaged in rescuing bonded labourers in India since 1985. He is a licensed lawyer by profession and has extensive experience of courtroom litigation, rights- advocacy and academic research. He has regularly represented bonded labourers  in various courts of law in India. He has a keen interest in the intersection of climate, migration and labour, from an international perspective. In 2024, he completed the LLM Programme in International Law with a specialization in Environmental Law at the Graduate Institute (IHEID), Geneva, with a thesis focused on the promotion of indigenous leadership in climate action. He is currently working on a “Sustainable Rehabilitation Model” for rural landless labourers in Punjab, especially focused on those who are victims of bonded labour and caste discrimination.
