Email: liezel.longboan@nottingham.ac.uk
Dr. Liezel Longboan is a Research Fellow at the School of Politics and International Relations and an affiliate of the Rights Lab’s Health and Communities Programme. She works with Dr. Pauline Eadie and Dr. Helen McCabe on a project examining how the UK’s tied visa policy for overseas domestic workers may facilitate abuse and contradict national laws designed to protect women from similar forms of exploitation. As a migrant researcher, Liezel adopts a decolonial approach to exploring the intersections of technology, collective action, and voice. Her work centres on making visible the lived experiences of those at the margins and co-producing knowledge with them to influence policy change. She integrates research and advocacy for migrants’ rights, collaborating with small charities that support migrant communities while also running Tinig UK, a nonprofit community media platform for Filipinos in the UK.
