Pete Waugh

Pete Waugh is a PhD student in Public Policy in the School of Sociology and Social Policy, researching human trafficking in sport. Pete’s research focuses on addressing human trafficking in football and the role of hope within the lives of young athletes. It aims to elevate the voice of the athlete in the process of bringing a focus on a youth-centred multi-agency approach to safeguarding young athletes from human trafficking in football. Pete has worked for over fifteen years in the youth, community and public sector facilitating and pioneering community-based initiatives as well as developing links with local government, NGOs and a variety of partner agencies.
